Spring and Polish!

For anyone who doesn't follow my instagram... I am a huge fan of giving myself some nice sets of nails!

Despite the fact that I love feeling glam and having myself some fancy ass nails, I'm also someone who lives on a budget, and honestly, I can't bring myself to spend a total fortune maintaining my nails.

Especially, when I've discovered these affordable, good quaility nail polishes, that I totally love!

1. Rimmel London- Rita Ora Collection: Fit for a Princess

This nail polish, is one of my all time favorites!

It was around this time last year, that I decided to go on a mission, to add more neutral shades to my nail polish collection.

I successfully managed to find this particular nail polish from Rimmel London. Which is this beautiful, off white shade.. and then I was pretty much done with finding anymore neutral colours..

I then used this nail colour constantly up until a week ago, when it had successfully ran out and I was forced to repurchase it!

The thing with this colour, that makes me love it so much, is not only the fact that it looks gorgeous on the nails by itself, but it also works really great as a base coat, for say, glitter polishes. (HINT!)

The formula of this nail polish, is quick dry. Which is fantastic for other people, like myself, who have absolutely zero patience!

The consistency of this polish, is also wonderful. It's thin enough, that it's easy to control. Meaning a better and smoother application. At the same time the product isn't so thin, that it's a watery, running mess!

I find that this product isn't totally opaque, which is quite common with white nail colours. Although, in my experience of using this, I've never had to apply more than two coats, to create the perfect amount of opacity on my nails!

The polish results, in a lovely, off white, streak free, shiny nail!

2. Rimmel London-60 Second Collection: Rapid Ruby

I feel like everyone needs a really great, deep red nail polish shade in their collection. Particularly, around this time of year, when summer is fast approaching and it will soon be time to reveal, our wonderful toe nails, in our best summer sandals!

Enter! This polish from Rimmel London!

It's the perfect tone of deep red, that is really great for this time of the year. It isn't too orange toned.. but it also isn't too dark of a red, that it leans more on the brown side!

The product only costs £3.00. Which means that pretty much anyone, whether you're on a budget or not, should be able to afford this.

Once again, the formula is fast dry! This time only 60 seconds! Which may I interject, is really great for giving yourself a pedicure. It means you're not stuck trying to shuffle around the house, in fear that you've messed up your toe nails..

As with the Rimmel London nail polish that I previously mentioned. The consistency of the product, is really great!

I feel like this particular polish errs more on the thicker side, than watery. However, In my experience, I've still found that it's easy to apply to my nails, with little to no hassle.

The polish is more on the opaque side. So you could get away with one application if you really wanted. Although, I do recommend that you use two layers, just to ensure you have a really beautiful deep, rich colour. Rather than just a thin layer of red.

Once again, I experienced no problems what so ever with this polish and wasn't left with huge streaks, or unevenness on my nails.

Honestly, for around the £3.00 mark, I was really impressed and quite content with the end result!

3. Barry M Nail Paint: Ethereal Forest

I know what you're thinking!! Thank goodness, it isn't another Rimmel London Polish!

Right you are! This time, I'm mentioning, a different brand, but also, quite a fun polish shade!!

The problem with this time of year, is that everyone goes for the same sort of colours. It's spring/summer time. So it's usually all about the hot pinks and corals. Right?

Well why not try something different?!

For this exact reason, I totally fell in love with this beautiful, enchanting, blue and green glitter shade from Barry M Cosmetics. The best way I can describe it, is mermaid esque!

Now the actual polish itself, recommends using a base coat, before applying the glitter. Which means if you're a sensible human being, you would probably use, perhaps the base colour, I mentioned previously. But, if you're more like myself, I just use the product straight!

I've found that the consistency of this particular polish, is actually quite runny, and thin. So I would be careful when applying, Unless you like glittery fingers!

Although the constistency kind of makes sense, if you're being advised to use a base coat first!

When I've applied this product without a base coat, I was actually still quite happy with the results...

One Layer of this product, without a base, can look quite uneven. Fortunately for myself, the polish is really easy to build up, meaning I usually only need around two layers, before I'm left with this stunning, glittery aquamarine, nail!

Of course, most people also know that Glitter polish, are notorious for there lasting power!

This one is no different!

I applied this colour to my toe nails recently, as I wasn't quite prepared to blind everyone with my beautiful glittering, mermaid fingers! But as I'm writing this post, my nails are only just beginning to chip! Which I believe is around the two week mark, of wearing? (It's probably just because it's my toe nails though!)

As the rule is with all glitter polishes, you're probably going to be in for a fun time, trying to remove it!

However, If you're like myself, you honestly won't care. As I can tell you from experience, this nail  colour, is just too amazing, to not put yourself through the hassle of trying to remove it later on!

A really great must have nail colour. Especially! As we are fast approaching the summertime and holidaying season!

4. Barry M- Under The Sea Collection- Angel Fish

Now, as far as I'm aware, this particular nail collection from Barry M, is one of their newer releases!

It's the Under The sea collection. Which is pretty much a range of stunning iridescent coloured top coats!

I believe they have a purple tone, a peach tone and blue tone. As well as the shade that I purchased.

As I previously mentioned I picked myself up the shade Angel Fish.

This shade is a beautiful, opalescent  Pale pink, with shifting, lavender and blue toned glitter. It's quite difficult to describe the colour, Although, I do hope that the pictures will do the polish some justice!

So, remember the polish from Rimmel London I mentioned at the very beginning of this post?

Well, I can't help but mention it again. The combination of that nail polish as a base shade and the Barry M nail polish as the wonderful, sparkling top coat. Is absolute perfection!

Again, this particular nail polish, runs more on the watery, thin side when it comes to consistency. That however, Is simply due to the fact it's aimed to be used as a top coat.

Due to the fact this polish is such a thin consistency, I've never actually braved using it by itself.

Although, what I can tell you, is that one layer, of this product is more than enough to create a really gorgeous, nail look!

The polish, doesn't have any visible, or thick chunks of glitter. Rather, it simply reflects, small, colourful particles, that leave you with a really unique, but still pretty manicure!

This is another nail polish that has been worn multiple times and a polish that I'm pretty convinced I will continue too wear!

 Happy painting!!
