I even remember owning a rip off version of the Urban Decay mini palettes from W7, and at the time, I was surprisingly impressed with that mini palette..
... And then years went by, and brands like Barry M and Makeup Revolution caught my attention, making me forget all about this particular cosmetics line.
It all started with (typical me) An eyeshadow palette...
The W7 On The Rocks Palette!
Now orignally, this palette first popped up on my radar, as it was being compared to the Anastasia Beverly Hills, Subculture palette. Personally, I couldn't justify spending the price that the original palette actually costs. Especially, when you consider the disaster that occurred when the palette first launched.
Instead I settled for a perfectly good dupe, which I successfully picked up for the grand price of £.500 while on offer!
I honestly can't lie. This palette from W7 has quickly became an everyday favourite of mine!
The colours in the palette are absolutely gorgeous! Providing a shade range, with a selection of colours to create stunning rich, or smokey makeup looks. With burnt oranges, copper tones, greens, purple and even a cherry red colour!
This palette even has a really great beige toned transitional shade! Hooray!!
There are 14 Eyeshadows in this palette. 12 of which are matte, and the final two, being super pigmented, foiled shades!
Actually, come to think of it, most of the colours provided in this palette have been highly pigmented, had minimal fall out, and both swatched and applied to the lids, super smoothly.
I haven't had any problems with the shadows being chalky, or difficult to blend.
The shadows are also perfectly named! And, despite the fact I've used this palette almost on the daily from I purchased it.. I've only just realised that the shadows are named after different cocktails or related to drinking... because you know "On The Rocks."... Woops!
A word of warning though, The shades Espresso Martini and Champagne toast, being the two foiled shades in the palette, were actually unexpectedly creamy, which resulted in me, digging a nice bit of a hole into my shadow pan. So please, learn from my mistakes!
I was planning to share with you my favourite shades, but that too proved difficult, as I pretty much started just listing all the different names in the palette.
Safe to say this palette was more than worth the £.5.00 that I spent on it. As, it's now became a palette that I wouldn't quite know what to do without!
Another product that I picked up from W7 cosmetics, was surprisingly, a liquid lipstick! Considering the fact that I've never tried any of W7's Lip products before, I was especially excited!
This liquid lipstick was from their "Skinny Lipping." range.
I picked myself up a really lovely deep lilac, nude shade, that I can only compare as being similar to MAC cosmetics lipstick in the shade Stone.
I actually purchased this matte liquid lip colour, in a W7 lip kit, where I also received a very nice lip liner, for only £3.00!
And as the lippy doesn't actually have a shade name on the packaging, I can only assume it's the same shade as the lip liner, called Lilac.
The packaging off this product, is very similar to another brand of cosmetics, which I'm sure you can guess from pictures... but I'm saying nothing...
Of course, the applicator of this product is your stereotypical, doe foot applicator. Although, it is more on the long and thin side. Which I've actually found, has made my job of applying this product much easier.
Honestly, I haven't always had the best experiences with liquid lipsticks in the past, lots of flaking, sore and dried out lips. So I wasn't expecting much from this one. Especially for such a cheap price...
... Imagine my shock, when this product quickly became one of my favourites. Making me even tempted to go and purchase more shades of the lippy!
The formula of this liquid lipstick, is of course matte.
And yes, on first impression the formula does have a lovely smooth, not too thick, not too thin, creamy texture...
However, what I was most impressed with, was just how easy and pleasant this product was to apply to the lips!
The lippy applied smoothly and evenly, providing a solid coverage of colour onto my lips.
I honestly, had no issues with this product, I simply lined my lips, and then applied the lipstick, and was left with a gorgeous, mauve, nude lip!
I also found the fact that this liquid lipstick was a nice, almost whipped, but not super thick texture, made the application process so much simpler.
I found that the colour did take a few seconds to dry down. Once it did, my lips actually looked matte and weren't left with that weird tacky feeling, that some similar products have done in the past.
The highlight of this product, or at least for me, was just how comfortable I found this product to wear. Yes, It is a matte lipstick, so as goes with the territory, it will make your lips feel slightly drier. Although, this particular lippy, was still pleasant enough to wear on my lips, and I didn't feel in anyway uncomfortable, or like I needed an emergency lip balm application.
I also found that the wear time of this product was pretty damn good!
Although, I did learn that eating and drinking tonnes of food, will cause this product to wear slightly in the inner part of your lips. So at least you know that. However, I also learned, that this product allowed me to re apply to the areas that had worn off, and I wasn't left with weird patchy, or as I've had in the past, flaky lips!
I also found that despite the fact that this liquid lippy is quite long lasting, I didn't have to practically exfoliate my face to remove the product later in the day. I used my classic micellar water, or sweet almond oil, and the product removed without any hassle!
All in All I'm super impressed with W7 Cosmetics, and whether you're on a budget or not, I would highly recommend giving some of their products a go! Great products at affordable prices, you can't really complain too much!!
I'm looking forward to testing even more off there makeup in the future!
Shawtandsimple! xo
